Kim Kopp

Why am I an Artist? I was born this way. I had no choice in the matter.  But seriously, I believe Art chooses Artists not the other way around.  Everyone is born with a creative spark yet, being chosen one also has to choose. I chose to pursue an artistic life early on and continue to choose it every day.

Why is art important? I believe Art is important because it promotes balance both in the individual and in the culture. Studying The Arts, expands an individual’s thinking, perception and creativity. Nurturing creativity fulfills the individual and consequently benefits humanity as a whole. Creativity is needed in every field and needs nurturing in every human being.

Kim is a 2013 recipient of a fellowship at Jentel, an artist residency program in Wyoming.  In 2005 Kopp was an EDGE Professional Development participant and in 2002 she was awarded a GAP from Artist Trust in Washington State, as well as a residency at Centrum Arts, in Port Townsend, WA. Kim Kopp is a graduate of the University of Chicago, MFA - 1992, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA - 1987.  Kim Kopp is at present represented by Gallery IMA and SAM Gallery, both in Seattle, WA.
