Guided Open Drawing Studio with Rick Myers

Guided Open Drawing Studio with Rick Myers

This is an open studio for anyone who has drawing projects underway and would like to work without the structure of a formal class or workshop, but with the guidance of a professional artist.

You can be working in pen and ink, colored pencil, graphite or charcoal. The drawing medium doesn’t matter. Please bring any project you are working on, even if it is finished or still in the idea stage.  We can work on a drawing from any point and work it towards a finished piece. Rick Myers will be on hand to help you over any hurdle, whether it’s a problem of perspective, value, or anything else you find challenging. If you need to work on a drawing project for another class, this is also a great time to finish up those projects.

There is one constant in my life and that is change. Meeting new people, moving, learning, and traveling is life’s adventure to me. I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember. I spent hours drawing dragons, comic characters, and so much other fantastic stuff. Art has always been in my life and recently it has become the focus. My wife and I recently took 2 years off to travel. Then we moved to Port Townsend in 2016 and I attended The Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building. The traveling and school made me realize how much of my life is informed by what I create. Drawing is my kinesthetic approach to learning about the world around me. I love detail and process so I attempt to show both in my work.
