Lines, Layers and Paul Klee with Rebecca Wild
Supplies List 2019
Scrap paper 15 sheets (8 ½ x 11 is fine) This can be used copy paper printed on one side.
A 2B or HB pencil
Be thinking of color palettes that appeal to you and choose pencils and pastels accordingly
A small set of Prismacolor Artist’s Quality colored pencils (or similar) or 2 warm and 2 cool colors of Prismacolor colored pencils (or similar). We will be layering on top of these with water-based media so avoid watercolor pencils.
Soft Chalk Pastels not oil pastels. Choose 3-6 colors of your choice. Choose deep hues that are saturated with color. Avoid pale hues. Pan pastels are expensive but well worth it. A small set of Alpha Color Pastels or Mungyo brands work well. Avoid Nupastel brand. (Rebecca will bring extra pastels to share)
¼ -½ sheet of sandpaper 220 or finer. This will be for grinding stick pastels.
Tuff Stuff eraser or Tombo Mono Zero Eraser or General's Factis Mechanical Eraser or Pentel Click Eraser if you can’t find one of the other 3 (they are the fine tip white erasers that are housed in a retractable case). My favorite is Tombo Mono Zero)
Staedtler Mars White Plastic eraser
A flat, water color or acrylic brush approximately 1” or bigger. Will be used with acrylic paint. Should be soft bristles. I like the Dick Blick Scholastic Wonder White Flat or Bright #20. Serial #05380-1020.
Pointed brushes, bring a variety of small to medium sizes (also known as round brushes). They will be used with acrylics and ink.
A pipette or small water bottle or dropper for mixing paint
A paint palette with wells
Small scrap of a soft, fine weave cotton rag (old t-shirt is especially good)
Towel or rag for wiping brushes
Sharp x–acto knife #11 or #16 with extra blades (or similar)
(Self-healing) plastic cutting board any size
Roll of Scotch Magic Tape ¾” green label (must be this brand, size and kind) Do not buy blue label removable.
Roll of (approximately) 1” or wider yellow Frog Tape for Delicate Surface or regular blue painters tape (not the super lock blue)
Metal ruler with cork backing or a cheap wooden ruler with a metal edge
Paper sack to use as a garbage can
