Since 2014, thirty-six artists from the Northwest have been selected to participate in Centrum’s Emerging Artist Residency (EAR) program. This year Northwind Arts Center is partnering with Centrum to host In Residence, an exhibition that welcomes back five artists from the past five years of the program. This month’s Salon features two of these artists: Jaleesa M. Johnston (2018), Cicelia Ross-Gotta (2018).
Jaleesa Johnston is an interdisciplinary artist currently living and working in the Pacific Northwest. Her work explores the black female body as both subject and material through performance, video, photography, sculpture and collage.
Using textiles and text, Cicelia Ross-Gotta creates sculptures, installations and performative works that center around the theme of vulnerability as a part of the human condition.
Art Salon Series is an occasional artist conversation presented by Port Townsend School of the Arts and Northwind Arts Center. This program is free and open to the public.
