In this class you will learn the basics of controlled watercolor painting. With a series of guided, sequential exercises, you will learn to consistently, predictably control the results. Each exercise builds on the previous one. Whether your goal is controlled areas in a looser watercolor , animal, plant or people portraits or any representational subject, these are the skills you need. I will bring examples of each exercise to class, show you artwork in which they are applied and then do a demonstration of the exercise and work with each of you individually to successfully complete the assignment. Beginners to professional watercolor painters are welcome. There are no prerequisites. Paint, a palette, transparent watercolors, a brush, and illustration board will be provided.

Required Supplies: container for water, ruler, #2 pencil, pink pearl eraser. a rag or paper towels

Materials Fee: $25, cash or check payable to Marcy Gordon on the first day of the workshop.
