Painted Collagraphs with Erika Bass, May 11 & 12

Painted Collagraphs with Erika Bass, May 11 & 12

SATURDAY, MAY 11, 1-4 PM & SUNDAY, MAY 12, 10 AM-1 PM

In this two-day workshop, you will learn how to create mixed-media paintings from a printed collagraph enhanced with water based paints. Using cardboard and heavy paper, you will design and make your own image plates. With oil-based inks, you will roll and print from those onto rag paper and then develop your images with gouache staining and/or acrylic paints. Through the process you can explore how to use different hand-printing and painting techniques to affect the value and texture of your pieces. At the end of the workshop, you'll take home your new mixed-media paintings.

I love sharing my passion for art making with others and have been teaching art for over twenty-five years. This technique is especially fun because of the beautiful textures it can create and the ease of the medium which can be done anywhere.

Bring to class: a selection of acrylic paints and mixing knives (optional).

SUPPLIES FEE: $25 materials fee to be paid directly to instructor on the first day of class: Includes, chip board, BFK paper, oil-based ink, latex gloves, linseed oil, latex gloves, Elmer’s glue, gouache paint, additional acrylic paints, palette knives, 2 printing rollers.
