SATURDAY & SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20 & 21, 10 AM-4 PM

This workshop will introduce you to the wet felting technique, Nuno Felting. The technique involves learning how to construct silk and wool  into a fabric. Participants will learn the history of felting and how to evaluate the quality and suitability of different silks and wools, and how to develop an armamentarium for their own studios. We will construct a shawl with multiple layers of wool and silk while creating a windowpane effect on this lightly draped garment. Participants will be able to complete a luxurious one of a kind piece. I will discuss your color choices before the class, or you may provide your own materials from a provided supply list.

Participants should provide a bucket, a waterproof apron, and 2-3 old towels. This is a physical process, bordering on strenuous, but anyone can do it if they pace themselves. The course is suitable for attentive youth through elderly artist.

Materials Fee: $65 payable to the instructor on the first day of class.
