SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MARCH 17 & 18, 10 AM-4 PM

This course is a beginner or intermediate course designed to introduce you to the wet felting technique, Nuno Felting. The technique involves constructing a fabric with silk and wool and then shrinking it to a shape of your own desire. This is the building block for all manner of projects, from simple scarves to table runners, upholstery fabric to wall hangings. You will learn the history of felting and how to evaluate the quality and suitability of different silks and wools, and how to develop an armamentarium for your own studio. You will walk away with a hat of simple shape and possibly many colors.

This is a physical process, bordering on strenuous, but anyone can do it if they pace themselves. The course is suitable for attentive youth through elderly artist.

Participants should  bring a bucket, waterproof apron, old nylons, and 3-4 old towels.

Materials Fee: $35 to be paid to instructor on the first day of class.
