Color Theory: Level 1:

This Foundation workshop of the Basics of Color Theory is designed to introduce students to the mechanics of color study through observation, experimentation and exploration. In this workshop students will learn about the importance of a basic understanding of HUE (color), VALUE (light or dark) and INTENSITY (saturation), as they apply to any medium.

By time spent completing various hands on exercises the students will create a personal color reference guide, in the form of a notebook or sketch book. Utilizing 6 colors plus black and white, students will construct color maps leading them to mix the color they intend.

Each session will contain a brief lecture, a large amount of hands on time to explore assignments and ask questions, followed by group discussion.

Water based paint in specific colors are the preferred medium, however other mediums (pencil, pastel, iPad, etc.) are welcome. Contact the instructor for colors required: kimmmkopp@gmail.com

NOTE: Olympic Art & Office & Quimper Mercantile offers 10% discount for PTSA students.
