SATURDAY & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18 & 19, 10 AM-2 PM

Calling all creatives! Repurposing the words and imagery from paperboard packaging, students will complete a series of collage exercises in this two-day workshop. Appropriating words meant for sales and marketing, you’ll express your own thoughts. Using images cut from product boxes, you’ll explore depth, illustration, composition and message.

Via a series of guided exercises, using the simplest of techniques (scissors and tape), and the most mundane of materials (paperboard packaging – cereal boxes, etc.), we’ll explore the creative process:

-wide open, endless possibility vs. creating within constraint
-quick, extemporaneous creativity vs. contemplative, leisurely work
-solo vs. collaborative
-using words and/or images

Expect to be busy both days, including through lunch, you can choose to brown bag or buy lunch on the Fort Worden campus.  As time allows, you may wish to work independently Saturday afternoon.

Intended for all types: visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, crafters, etc. Come one, come all. The more, the merrier.
